Banana Boat Baby Broad Spectrum Sunscreen Lotion SPF 100, 4 Ounce

I went to the beach for Memorial Day weekend and bought this for my two boys and myself. The lotion is super thick and we applied it about a half an hour before we hit the beach. My boys and I are very pale skinned from the winter and we ALWAYS burn the first couple of times out in the sun, no matter how much we apply sunscreen. We applied this and then took a couple of SPF 50 misting sunscreen bottles to supplement every couple of hours while in the sand. After a day of playing in the sun and sand, none of us burned at all, but we did get a good tan!!! Not burning, especially on the first day is invaluable when you are on vacation. Every other sunscreen I have used in the past washes off easily especially in the ocean. We learned the hard way with mists, but applying this stuff before you get out in the sand and supplementing every couple of hours with a mist really works.

I forgot my sunscreen when away from home and I thought this was the best I could find for my light and sensitive skin with what was available at the drugstore.

Usually baby products do not irritate me but this one did.I did not get itchy but my skin got persistent reddish splotches that took a few hours after showering followed by aloe and anti-histamine to go away.I think they were a combination of a mild burn with a skin reaction because my skin flaked off in splotches a few days later.

Since this was an unexpected reaction, I looked it up on the EWG website and got mad at myself for buying it.Every symptom I had was called out on there with more.Now I know to pack my normal sunscreen or at least buy a different one by this brand in a pinch.

If I am an adult who got burned in March I would hate to think what would happen to a baby who wore it out in the sun all day.

I hear that 100 SPF has been removed from store shelves because someone says anything over 50 SPF isn't any more effective.I have found this to not be the case.I will miss this product.I bought all I could find on line.

Before I switched to this lotion I have used oil of Olay with SPF 15 since I was 14 years old. But as people get older though, Olay is a bit too light. I started with different brands with SPF 15-30 but didn't find them likable until I found this lotion. It feels light and give the skin a certain light glow that comes with happy, young skin.

The best is that it doesn't smell like sun screen and doesn't stink the eye when used around the area. I have tried some that were both. On top of that, heavy and weighty. Felt clogged.This lotion doesn't do any of those things.

A touch of UV-B only sunscreen give it a virtually nonexistent SPF 4. There are much better products out there at this price.

Kiehls has great products and there lip balm is amazing. However I find with the flavored or scented ones there really isn't much of a scent. Stick with the original recipe so as not to be let down.

The base is great. The color sp#60 makes me look slightly bronzed which I enjoy during the winter. In humid places, they are perfect, but in dry places, I prefer to apply some moisturizer before using them because my skin gets very dry. Either way, I really liked them.

On paper this looks like such a great sunscreen. The inclusion of Ferulic acid in an all mineral, waterproof spf50 at this price? I ordered it from Walgreens in a heartbeat.

The product applies like vegetable shorteningit's the most slippery,greasy product I have ever applied, and it is super shiny like grease too. That greasy tacky feel never goes away. You become a magnet for small particles of dust and debris.

No questions on the waterproof claimit lasts through washing with soap and water too. You really need a cold cream or cleansing oil to remove completely. There are times when this level of tenacity is what you want in a sunscreen, but I'm not sure I can live with the other attributes just for ultra water resistance. It also slides around on the skin alot, with white creases showing every skin bend and fold and leaving me to wonder how well protected my skin can be if there is this much migration?

This is marketed toward use for children, but has the exact same ingredient list as the face formula, just less expensive. This would probably be good for a day at a waterparkbut at a beach? I cringe to imagine all the sand adhesion this would foster.

I should preface this review by saying that we only buy natural sunscreens so we are used to sunscreen being a little hard to rub in. I liked the formula with this one and was eager to try it. Unfortunately there is good reason it says to shake it on the bottle. I shook it, a LOT, but it was still like all natural peanut butter, with a layer of water, and a layer of shortening like substance, and n'er the two shall meet. It was also SUPER greasy, like lard greasy, all over everything, kids me etc. We use sunscreen on the kids every day before school so being super greasy is not an option, we are talking baby oil greasy.
