I surf so suntan protection is a priority to me. I used Helioplex which offers excellent protection but causes rash. I tried NO-AD 45 and 50 which is called SPORT or KIDS. There is no difference in their lotions except the SPF numbering, the rest is marketing. Helioplex would have cost me $35 for 16oz plus the discomfort of rash instead of NO-AD for $12. The only stamp on the container was NL-11-363, meaning it was produced on the 363 day of 2011. The lotions are oil-free but not the sprays. Paraben-free and non-comedogenic meaning do not block the skin pores. Unlike Helioplex does not dry like a white mask which was a real problem. It absorbs nicely without any perfumes or smell and more importantly no sunburn which is dangerous to my health. Helioplex discoloured my shirt and there is a warning on NO-AD as well so I kept it away from my clothes. I noticed that after several hours of surfing, when I was rubbing my face before shower, the suntan lotion was peelingoff. Meantime I noticed the same as I got in the water. I always apply a real heavy coat, 20 minutes before surfing. Although the heavy coat dries without a white mask on my face, in the water it peels off like a dead skin. Contacted NO-AD and they had no idea. I assume NO-Ad acts ignorant since they do not want to admit that their lotion acts as I claim. It will not peel off if you apply lightly instead of one very heavy coat like I like to do. The fact is that it protects me from the sun without any harm, rash and perfume. I have tested this sunblock in Mexico and Dominica Republic, works great, you have to reapply it every few hours but no sun burns.
