La Roche Posay Anthelios XL 50+SPF Fluide Extreme (Pack of Two)

I've been wearing Anthelios XL fluide extreme daily for the past 10 years.I typically purchase several bottles at the same time when I'm in Europe.The last two times I've purchased this product, I've noticed something is different.It's still imported from France, so I know it's not the questionable North American formulation.However, the French formulation is now also very different.For one, it smells like lighter fluid.The old formulation had a faint, pleasant odor.The new one literally has a faint smell like kerosene or something.The feel is also completely different.The old formulation was a smooth, blendable formula---the new one is smooth, but thicker than the old fluide extreme and leaves a HORRIBLE White-residue on my face that the old one never did.This is a problem because I can't run around outside my house every day painted like a geisha.I'm not sure if they increased the titanium dioxide content or what, but the white residue is completely out of control.

I'm just really disappointed because I've used this product and loved it for so long and this new formula is just not something I can or want to wear everyday.

This is a very waterproof, high SPF sunscreen that feels not at all greasy.I normally prefer more natural products based on titanium or zinc oxides, but they are not very waterproof.This is a great alternative when planning to be in the water.They claim to have a unique, proprietary active sunscreen.I don't know, but I can say this works even when in the water a good bit.I am very fair skinned, and have started to redden in under ten minutes in strong sun with no protection. I'd give this five stars if the price was much lower.

I have very fair skin and the lack of sun protection when I was young has already left marks on my face.I received La Roche sunblock initially as a gift from a friend who got it from Europe (at the time Methyol spare my spelling has not been approved in the US).I actually used it for a trip to Mexica, strong UVA UVB, beach, swim, etc.I diligently applied a thick layer everyday on my face and was rewarded with absolutely no sun burn/redness what so ever.I remember when I used bananaboat, neutrogena or other common brands in the past, I would have at least a little bit of redness.I guess this contributes to the Methyol ingredient.Also, the cream version gives more protection than the fluide extreme (which feels like water and better if you may get breakout easily).I actually have both depends on the day and where I am going.Also, I always get the highest SPF available.If you want protection against sun, why not just get the maximum.
