Beyond Coastal Natural Clear SPF30 Sunscreen

I bought the product after combing through the EWG recommendations for safe sunscreen that does not contain potentially harmful ingredients. The problem with many of the zinc oxide sunscreens is that they leave a white residue on your skin. The Natural Clear Sunscreen does not. When you first put it on, it feels thick and heavy but dissolves into your skin. My husband who is fair skinned and burns easily and me (Asian, able to get very tan) both wore the sunscreen while hiking in Yosemite for 3 days in full sun for hours. It worked very well. No problems at all. It has a lot of moisturizing ingredients which after a shower, I could still feel the benefits in that my skin did not feel dry.

It says on the tube, for the outdoor athlete, I hope they come up with a lighter version for outdoor activities like attending outdoor sporting events, etc.

This product is very, very thick. It feels like wax and is difficult to apply/hard spread over the skin. It is not clear. It is white and white residue shows on the skin. Even after washing off this suncreen, the skin has a waxy feeling residue on it.

I bought this for a trip to India, and I chose it based on the lack of chemicals in it. It definitely doesn't go on clear. It's very thick and white and takes lots of time and elbow grease to rub it in. However, it does rub in without "pilling" on top of the skin, and it was effective at blocking the sun.

There was no strong odor or fragrance that could potentially attract mosquitoes or other insects, so overall I was happy with the purchase. However, I think I'll try a different brand the next time I need sunscreen. There are probably better non-chemical ones out there.

This stuff is so light and goes on clear. I hated having to really rub in my sunscreen or else I'd look like a ghost. I still get burned if I stay out for hours, but it's not as bad and it's actually good for my skin and it's not advisable to stay out for so long anyway. It has natural ingredients which I love. No Retinyl Palmitate or whatever...
