Lubriderm Daily Moisture Lotion for Normal to Dry Skin

I agree, this new lubriderm is terrible. I have used lubriderm for over 10 years, and it was so wonderful I was able to use it on my face, and I received numerous compliments on my soft skin. With the original formula I could put the lotion on and it would moisturize my skin for over 24 hours. When my skin started needing more and more lotion, and started becoming dry, I turned the bottle over, and voila...what I found was the ingredients on the new bottle were completely different than those of the original formula. I wondered at this, because the Lubriderm formula has been around for ages, so why would Pfizer change such a magnificent formula so drastically? Curious, I called the number on the back of the bottle. What I found was that Pfizer sold the Lubriderm rights to Johnson and Johnson. Pfizer, makers of the original formula, doesn't make Lubriderm anymore, J&J does, and although I tried contacting J&J numerous times regarding this disastrous change, I kept getting the same computer generated form letter which didn't even address the formula questions I asked about.

This new lotion really isn't Lubriderm at all, it is a totally new lotion running under the Lubriderm name. I have even considered contacting the Consumer Protection Agency regarding the legality of selling a completely new product under an "old product name," without subsequently informing the consumer somewhere on the the product that the product has changed. But that's a whole different issue all together.

I guess the larger insult is the fact that J&J apparently thinks that their consumers are ignorant and wouldn't notice the change. Well...we have noticed, and we've noticed that this "new" formula doesn't compare to the old Lubriderm quality standard. I am a chemist, myself, and I compared the old Lubriderm ingredients with the new, and found the old version was well thought out, and used a synergistic formula of long lasting moisturizers well worth the money the lotion cost. The new Lubriderm has basic lotion ingredients slapped together like any bargain lotion, but of course, although the lotion itself is cheaper to make...their price for the lotion stayed the same.

So, for those of us who loved the old Lubriderm and who notice that the new formula is by far a lower quality formula, what we Lubriderm lovers can do (since J&J won't make the old formula and refuses to listen to customers)is write the CEO of Pfizer a nice letter telling them we loved THEIR original Lubriderm, and ask them if they would consider making the SAME lotion, same exact formula, under a different name, since they sold the Lubriderm name rights to J&J.

Bottom line: Don't be fooled...this new Lubriderm is not the same Lubriderm as the one Pfizer use to make. The ingredients are utterly different. Don't pay good money for a lotion that is no better than the average less expensive lotions. Just purchase one of those instead.

For the Original Lubriderm lover: my suggestion is to write Pfizer a letter and ask them to consider remaking their fabulous lotion under a different name.

I recently purchased some Lubriderm, Daily Moisture, "fragrance free," to replace my empty bottle. The container said "New Look," but it also smelled different--It smelled bad. It STINKS! I compared the ingredients, and sure enough--they changed. Even the old "fragrance free" had a smell, and a pleasant one at that. But the new stuff, "fragrance free" is not a pleasant smell. They had a good formula with the old stuff--"developed by doctors." So why change it? Did the doctors change their minds? Maybe it works just as well, but please, Lubriderm: Change it back to the original.
