African Shea Butter Cream (100% Pure & Raw, Gold) 8 Oz.

The shea butter comes in a plastic container. It was not rock hard and I could easily scoop a bit into my finger and apply it to my face. I didn't have to microwave it. A little goes a long way... since too much shea butter can make one's face look greasy. Overall, I would definitely purchase this brand of shea butter again.

I decided to purchase this product when I was watching some type of fashion video on Youtube with Amber Rose *Kanye West's infamous girlfriend *now ex*anyway she was asked what was some of her favorite make up and skin care products. More clear..My complexion looks healthier.. My laugh lines look as if they are slowly disappearing... I've been looking for a good moisturizer for the winter..I normally use neutrogena for sensitive skin but it doesn't help as nearly as good as shea butter.. My face still feels really dry and if I use their formula for dry skin my skin breaks out for some reason. It's good for a all over moisturizer... I put it everywhere... I don't put on too much.. This is my first purchase of raw shea butter. I was hesitant due to some of the negative reviews; however, the positive reviews far outweighed the negative so I purchased it regardless. I am so happy I did! I purchased it solely to moisturize after using African Black Soap, as it was also my first black soap purchase and I read that it can leave your skin dried out. Although the black soap is by far the best soap I have ever used and it doesn't dry me out, I have still been using the shea butter.

This stuff is hard but also very easy to pinch enough off and rub it in your hands. After just a few seconds of rubbing it between the hands, it looses the grainy texture and becomes very creamy and easy enough to spread. I have read that some of the other reviewers put it in the microwave but if you're buying it for the raw properties, that kind of defeats the purpose, eh?

Here are some of the benefits I have noticed in the week since I received it: My feet have gone from normal-dry to ahh-mazing...no more dryness around my toenails, it's better than castor oil! My rosacea is GONE (I have tried jojoba oil and, although it showed improvement it never really cleared it), it healed a sunburn I got two days ago and there is no peeling, it seems to help dry up acne but it may be a coincidence or it may be the black soap. It does keep me from picking at my face though. My fingernails seem stronger and they are not peeling so, for the first time since I was a teenager, I am able to start growing them out. My combination skin seems to have evened out and my nose doesn't get too shiny during the day!

Some of the negative aspects...it smells different than anything I have ever smelled before and I can't really describe it. It smells kinda icky but the smell subsides after application. It is very greasy for the first 10-15 minutes but it absorbs into the skin fairly quickly. It's perfect for allover the body but it leaves the face a bit too greasy. If you apply it to your face sparingly and then blot it with a towel after, it leaves the perfect finish though.

Overall, I love it!

I am obsessed with sunscreen and have probably tried 20 different ones in the past few years. This is the best sunscreen I've ever used! It's an SPF 55, it doesn't cause my skin to breakout, it is waterproof/resistant, so it stays put when it's super hot out, and it is not greasy or oily, but dries with a relatively matte finish. Due to its high zinc oxide content, it works really well to keep the sun off my skin. I usually tan with most sunscreens, but not with this one! I Love it!

Outstanding, smooth, silky, with the right ingredients! Better than (and less expensive than) Clarins spf 40. Do your research! Ill never go back. This one is better than the one made only for the face because it is more silky/smooth and still has high SPF and broad spectrum coverage. This one uses zinc oxid instead of titanium dioxide. Great sunscreen, dries matte, no white cast, excellent protection with lots of UVA filters including Tinosorb M and Mexory XL and SX. Really gives my skin a nice smooth matte look. Recently, I was advised by a dermatologist that SPF 15 just wasn't going to cut the mustard if I was going to start using retinol-based products.She recommended SPF60, but because she's European (I'm military overseas) wanted me to buy Anthelios by LaRoche-Posay.

Unfortunately, the LaRoche-Posay sunscreen contains avobenzone, to which I'm highly allergic.And I mean highly.

So, I embarked upon a quest for a non-goopy, non-ooky, non-whitening zinc/titanium oxide based, high SPF sunscreen.Boy, was that painful!Too many times, I either felt like I had bathroom caulk on my face or looked like an extra in a vampire movie.(The Twilight Look may be fine for a cute, chiseled, twenty-something young man but just doesn't cut it for a 40-plus woman...)

Trolling thru Amazon, I hit upon the Skinceuticals sunscreen line, but saw no reviews for the newest, Sheer Physical Defense SPF 50.I rely heavily on the reviews on this site and others to inform and guide my decisions.Even with nothing to go on I figured, "What's another $30 when you've already wasted so much money and been so frustrated?"

The sunscreen arrived about five days ago and I've worn it every day since then.It goes on incredibly well and is absolutely weightless; within a couple of minutes you don't even know that you're wearing sunscreen.It's absolutely amazing.

However...

It absolutely reeks.

I mean it really does.I honestly wondered if I'd gotten some type of factory reject or a bottle gone bad.But, it doesn't expire until 2012, and the box was completely sealed.(And the seller is perfectly reliable.)

Fortunately, after a couple of minutes the odor goes away, but initially it's a bit of a shocker.

The other surprise was the small bottle.But, after initially squirting out enough to cover my entire body, I realized that it's not goopy, but liquid, so requires far less product to do the job.(Warning:Don't squirt!)

Yes, it's expensive, but a little bit goes a long way, and it looks so good on your face that you'll be able to get by with either nothing but blush or a light powder.(Note:You can use it around your eyes without any burning OR having your eyeshadow crease and your mascara run.How many other products can claim that???) So, it all works out in the long run.Besides, how much money have we all wasted buying facial sunscreens that were awful?

Bottom line:THIS IS THE SUNSCREEN WE SENSITIVE SKIN FOLKS HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR!!

And, just to ensure that I had enough on hand, I waited to write this until I placed an order for two more bottles.;~)

I've searched high and low for a sunscreen that would fit all of my requirements high spf, matte finish, won't run when I sweat and work out, won't break me out. Three years ago I started using Shiseido Spf 50 and I loved it until I found out that it's UVA rating is very very low, despite the high SPF (read UVB) rating. That didn't cut it for me, so I reluctantly switched to Neutrogena, which promised a higher UVA rating (although they don't list UVA ratings in the US). I stuck with it for some time, but now knowing the UVA rating bugged to a point that last year I purchased about 5 different sunscreens from Europe with incredible UVA/UVB rating....which unfortunately broke me out really badly......While at the derm to try and take care of the newly created acne problem I was having, I came across Skinceuticals Sheer Physical Devense sunscreen and decided to give it a try, since there was nothing out there that I could possibly use. I know that physical sunscreens are superior to their chemical counterparts, but I've never before encountered one that wouldn't make my face look like a mask or run it white streaks when I went to the gym and broke a sweat. Well, this sunscreen is not like other physical sunscreens: it leaves a matte finish without a white cast (at least for me, I am very fair skinned), it doesn't break me out, it has a very high and proven UVA and UVB, and it doesn't run as much when I am at the gym. It's my HG sunscreen and I'm sticking with it. I hope they keep making it forever, or at least until something better comes around. But for now, I am not doing any more sunscreen experiments.

I have always been a firm believer in wearing sunscreen but really didn't like the consistency of many of the brands I've used (Olay, Neutrogena, Eucerin and Philosophy).This sunscreen is liquid instead of cream. Which I love, because it doesn't feel like you have anything on after applying, it does have a scent but it goes away within minutes.I have really sensitive skin and this has worked wonders in not breaking me out. This is a very good lip balm! I like that it is lightweight, softens lips, isn't colored or shiny (i'm a guy), has strong spf protection, and isn't overly greasy or too dry (the consistency is just right!). The very subtle lemon/orange taste is awesome, too! Luca products are non-comedogenic, aren't tested on animals, and are made in the USA, so I love supporting their business. Although I have not used any of their line other than the lip product, I'm confident their other products are just as impressive. I'm looking forward to trying their sunscreens.

Sunblock Stick 30 + No Fragrance - 0.50 oz - Stick

I love the California Baby sunblock for use on my baby because it is a barrier sunscreen and does not have chemicals that absorb into the skin. However, I would recommend using the kind that squeezes out like a lotion to cover most of the skin. This sunblock stick works well for small areas like the face and hands. You have to use a bit of pressure to get it to apply to the skin so you would not want to have to do that all over it would take forever.

I was suspicious of a waxy stick formula that was going to be too hard to glide on and rub in.not to mention having a hard waxy feeling trapping my skin from breathing, but I was wonderfully surprised.This stuff was easy to spread, easy to use, and covered really well.I had no irritation or breakouts and I can relax knowing it is a legitimately safe sunscreen that is keeping my fair/prone to freckle skin looking good.I keep it in my purse for midday touch uo swipes across my nose, cheeks, neck, and hands.

I am not a fan of the CA Baby sunblock stick. I purchased this to use on my young son because it is routinely listed as one of the safest sunblocks on the market. I would recommend sticking with the lotion. The stick sunblock is very difficult to apply, especially to young children who typically don't like things being pressed and scraped on their skin. Following application, you'll then need to vigorously rub it in and even the the weird purplish/white glow doesn't disappear. It got to the point where my son would cry when he would see me take this product out to use on him, so we obviously discontinued using it. I will say that he never got any color while wearing this sunblock, so it does work. But, in the end, the effort just wasn't worth it.

California Baby's Sunblock Stick, formulated with titanium dioxide, earns a hazard score of 1 with EWG's Skin Deep Database, which is about as good as you're going to get when it comes to sunscreens. The downside of this is that titanium dioxide, unlike the more toxic counterparts (ie. oxybenzone) is that titanium and zinc oxides do not absorb into the skin, giving the skin that telltale bluish-white appearance that we find so aesthetically unappealing. This is because the benefit of these low-risk sunscreens is that they tend to stay on the surface of the skin, rather than being absorbed where they can do damage to our children's bodies.

That said, I'm comfortable with my kids having discolored skin if they're better protected from thyroid disrupting hormones and other toxic effects of prettier sunscreens.

My one gripe with this particular sunscreen as opposed to the liquid formulations is that the balance of ingredients seems to be off. Or maybe I just bought an old or off-batch? This stuff is really, really, sticky. Thick. Tacky. Unworkable. It's difficult to spread across skin at all. It's far too easy to get grit embedded in it which makes it painful to apply, and the you end up having to cut part of the (expensive) stick off to get a clean applicator again.

On the plus side, this stuff doesn't have any offensive odors which it shouldn't, being unscented. And, had they made the substance a little oilier and a little less sticky, it would be a breeze to apply. As it is, we're going to make do with it. It serves as a fair way to apply facial sunblock, when needed, for our young girls. And there's much less potential for getting it in the eyes or mouth of a squirmy child than if you're using liquid sunblock.

I think when this stick is gone I will give a go at Badger's low-hazard sunblock stick. Maybe they have an improved formulation over this one. I would not buy this one again unless there were no alternatives available.

I can still see them, obviously no product can make them disappear completely, but they don't seem to be as prominant as before. This product has a very great consistancy, and the smell of the suncreen isn't strong in the first place, and disappears soon after applying.

This lotion is incredible, and lasts, you only need a little bit and it feels great on your skin. You feel hydrated and not sticky like other creams or lotions. I really love this product, the only downside is the price point but for the results I think it is worth investing in.
