I've tried Revlon, I've tried Ferrier, Garnier, Herbal Essence, Clairol, and basically every other hair dye you can think of, and I have to say I love the herbatint the best.
Not only do I feel much more comfortable using a product I could practically eat on my hair, instead of a chemical that eats away at the shaft of my hair and can make me go blind if it seeps into my eyes, but the color is fantastic, and it makes my hair feel softer and nicer then before I colored it.Other companies boast this, but they lie!
Recently I tried Revlon again, I couldn't find Herbatint, and it left my hair dried out, so that if I didn't use a heavy conditioner every time I washed my hair, my hair ended up feeling like straw when I washed it.Thats very unusual for my hair, usually nothing really damages it, so I was shocked at this!I missed herbatint!plus the color didn't stick, I find that most of them didn't.
Herbatint has the nicest black I've found. It looks like natural black hair, but not too light, not anywhere near brown.its certainly BLACK, but it looks natural, not like you decided to stick your head into a pot of shoe polish and hope for the best, and not like your hair is dark brown, or like it hasn't been dyed at all.The color stays too, I've never really had it fade on me, plus, after I color, my hair is soft, really soft, and nice, and it doesn't stink like chemical reek, it smells like, well, hair. It's wonderful!
Plus, if you dont have ALOT of hair, you save money. You can save the unused portions of color and use it later, something that I've found very effective. It doesn't make the product any worse, and you save money, instead of throwing away money with unused dye because the bottles warn you that it may "explode" if you keep it... (which is also rather unsettling... haha)
I cant recommend it enough, buy some herbatint, save money, get really nice color, you wont regret it.
Before using Herbatint I tried all other brands with no Ammonia. Herbatint is more gentle on your hair. It feels light and smooth. Covers gray completely. But color is darker then indicated by number. Chestnut 4N turned out on my hair as almost black.

When my hair grew back after chemotherapy, it had alot more gray. I wanted to color my hair for gray coverage, but I needed something that is gentle. I tried Herbatint as a more natural alternative to the more common home hair colors I used before. I am very pleased with herbatint! This color, 7N (Blonde), is the perfect choice for a very light brown result that I was originally having trouble finding in the more natural haircolor lines. When first dyed, this Herbatint color is actually a medium brown, and after about 2 weeks, it lightens or relaxes into a very natural light brown shade that's perfect! (Similiar to shades labeled "extra light brown" or "dark blonde" in drugstore brands.) If you are looking for gray coverage stick with the shades with N after the number, (It tells you that on the insert, but you might not know if you've never used it before.) N is used to mark the "Natural" tones that have stronger, more concentrated pigments for better gray coverage. Another thing I would recommend is to use a shampoo that is made for colored hair. I've been using the Rosa Mosquetta shampoo from Aubrey Organics and because of that, this color has lasted 3 months. I love the fact that you can use only half of the product and store the rest to use at a later time (cutting the cost of each dye job in half!) No harsh chemical odor, no stinging on my scalp, no appointment, and soft, natural looking color! Wonderful!Read Best Reviews of Herbatint Herbatint Permanent Ash Blonde (7c) Here
I have used this product for several years now and it is very effective. It does not have harsh chemicals, burn my skin or smell bad. It's much kinder on my hair and there are a large number of color choices. The only negative I can think of is the gloves are too large and hard] to use. I just use other gloves. I highly recommend this product as a healthier choice[[ASIN:B001E77SJ4 Herbatint Permanent Herbal Haircolour Gel, Dark Blonde 6 N, 4.56-Ounces (Pack of 2)] or honey Blond (9N)

I first tried this product about 9 months ago and I absolutely LOVE it!The product comes in two small bottles that allow you to mix what you need and SAVE the rest for later.I have dark brown hair with a few gray coming up here and there.I did NOT want to start coloring all of my hair so I just put this where I need it.The results... a very natural color that does not look like you colored your hair. This is a permanent color, it has not washed out at all!YES! :)I absolutely love this product!
