Mexitan 100% All Natural SPF 50 Sunscreen Lotion

Mexitan 100% All Natural SPF 50 Sunscreen LotionI settled on this product after researching SAFE and EFFECTIVE sunscreens on EWG's SkinDeep database. This is a top-rated product in both categories with noncontroversial ingredients. It has a subtle but pleasing green tea fragrance and probably works great, but be forewarned that it will make you noticeably WHITE and is annoyingly difficult to rub in, despite it's liquid consistency. If you're hiking with buddies in the woods, no one is going to care. But if you're looking for a good beach sunblock that won't make you look like a corpse, this is not the product for you. (FYI I am a skin tone #2.)

I have tried a couple of the sunscreens with good ratings on the ewg report's website. The last one I tried (Soleo Organics) was in a base of oil (sunflower) and was very, very oily.I have oily skin already, and the last thing my pores need while I'm sweating in humid, steaming hot Florida was to have more oil slathered over them.I spend a lot of time exercising outdoors, though, so I do what I have to do.I came across this product on the ewg's website, and read the mixed reviews.I had my suspicions that there must be a trick to application to prevent the flakiness.I was right. When you apply this product, you have to spread it over your skin fast, and then let it be.No, you can't rub it in, and don't even try. It's supposed to make a film on your skin (like paint) that acts like a barrier between your skin and the sun.If you keep rubbing while it's drying, you're just going to end up with flakes. It has a pleasant smell, not chemical at all. And, yes, it will give you a very ashen skin hue.

I ordered this product from the manufacturer's website.Very fast shipping.

I have extensively researched sunscreens, and found this one to be the best for safety and sunscreen action:

1) complaints about a white face the active ingredients are zinc and titanium dioxide, so yes, they are white. Shake the product well to mix the solids with liquid. The solvent here is just sunflower oil, not the usual toxic chemicals found in other sunscreens. You only need to smear a small amount to cover. Do not "rub in." I noticed that after some time, the whiteness disappears from your face. In the meantime, (for women only) if you want to look good, dab face powder on all over your face with a cotton ball, then dab on some cheek color. Any whiteness from unlying sunscreen is covered, and I have noticed that the sunscreen under my powder is a great cover for enlarged pores. is a bonus, and I look fine when I go out to a

restaurant or place that I need to look good and not white-faced.

2) Oily skin this sunscreen does not cause breakouts for me, and I am very acne-proned.

3) Because you don't have to use much, our container has lasted longer than expected.

4) wore the sunscreen when swimming, and provided good sunscreen. Re-apply periodically if you swim.

5) Have never noticed that the smell in the product is bad. Anyone who says "it smells bad" is sadly too accustomed to smelling toxic chemicals routinely added to most cosmetic products. This is an all natural product, and we hope that the company keeps it that way. Those synthetic "scents" added to most of the common household and cosmetic products cause headache, migraine, chemical sensitivity, "allergies," (a host of problems and complaints from people). There is a not a shred of clinical testing performed to show that they are safe. If you think so, contact the manufacturers and ask them for it. Or better yet, contact the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission and ask them for safety data. These substances are merely a synthetically made concoction that companies think will make consumers "feel good" about a product and mask the smell of other chemicals they add to products. Even worse, some may be molecularly small enough to pass through your skin into your bloodstream and cause medical symptoms.

Used this sunscreen during a recent trip to eco parks in Mexico. I didn't get burned so it is super effective. By the way, the instructions say you're NOT supposed to rub it in. This type of product with these ingredients does NOT rub into the skin, and has to remain on the skin surface to work properly, in a thin layered application.

I usually purchase a conventional sunscreen with both physical and chemical sunblock. I finished that product and I really loved it. But I didn't repurchase. But I bought another sunscreen from the same company and didn't like it as much. So I finally decided to switch over to a completely natural sunscreen. I use a SPF 15 completely natural sunscreen from a small business with the main ingredient with 15% zinc oxide. That one leaves a slight white cast and it sinks into my skin better. I didn't think that SPF 15 is enough protection for me. So I finally decided to get SPF 50.

This product is great but there are some cons. It's obvious that this product would be white. It's a physical sunblock and it's SPF 50. I didn't expect it to be so much like a paste while it's drying though. I agree with the other reviews, this stuff flakes off if you use too much.

The key to using this product is to mix it with something. Mix it in with your natural moisturizer or lotion or even a primer. Incorporate both products really well and the product is amazing. There's no flaking and no white cast. I wouldn't recommended taking flash photography with the sunscreen on though.

It's really hard finding a non-greasy all natural high SPF sunscreen. This is it. BUT you do need to do some work before applying it like mixing it with something else.
