It's not completely obvious from the directions which colors mean "reapply sunscreen" and "get out of the sun",but I think it probably depends on how fair your skin is.I just reapplied sunscreen when it was sort of peachy-colored and got out of the sun when it started to get a little yellowy.Over the three sunny days boating on a lake, I didn't get even a little sunburned.
These things are really smart for long days in the sun.You put them on before going outside, then apply sunscreen, completely covering the band. When you go out in the sun it turns bright purple. The band will start to fade the longer you stay out you reapply sunscreen when it turns lavender. When the band turns almost white it's time to go in.
For someone with super pale skin who burns after being outside for a few minutes, these things are a lifesaver.I've spent 6 hours out in the blazing sun and been totally fine.Definitely a summer staple.
Buy UV Sun Sense Wristbands Now
The wristbands do not work. They were tested by my daughter at a beach volleyball tournament here in South Florida...she tried two different bands and neither worked.I bought two packs and am sorry I did.Yes it turns purple but it never goes back to a normal color and it turns purple in the regular light inside my house. I still thought they were cool though! These are great! I wasn't sure if they would work, but they do, and are very reliable. They let you know when to reapply more sunscreen, and when to get out of the sun. Great buy! Keep you and your families skin safe.
