I apply this eyeliner just under my lower eyelashes with black liner closer to my inner eye, Almay's purple eye shadow and blue mascara...looks so cool.I've had a lot of compliments :).I love it!I ordered this product because it claims to be hypoallergenic. I have very sensitive eyes, and just about every eyeliner I have tried, particularly those in the violet/purple color range, which is my favorite, cause major irritation that can last for days after exposure to the product. I felt fairly confident when ordering Almay's Purple Amethyst, I did not anticipate any problems because of the hypoallergenic claim. However, I was very disappointed to find that barely half an hour after applying this product I could feel the beginnings of the familiar stinging, itching and burning. By the time I removed it, my eyes were red and swollen. I decided to do some research on purple eyeliners and found that the ingredient Carmine (also known as Crimson Lake, Cochineal, Natural Red #40, C.I. 75470, or E120) used to impart the deep red and purple color in cosmetics can be highly irritating to individuals who are predisposed to allergies. On a thorough check of the ingredient listing on the package, I saw that Carmine was indeed present. Bingo. So much for hypoallergenic. So for everyone out there with makeup allergies and not sure what is causing the problem, read your labels thoroughly before purchasing a product even if it claims to be hypoallergenic. If Carmine is present in the ingredients, you are guaranteed an allergic reaction. Both of these products were supposed to be pack of two and both were single packs...not happy with this at all! When I ordered the Almay intense i-color Eyeliner, Bring Out the Brown in Purple Amethyst, it said it was a pack of 2. When my package came it only contained 1 eyeliner stick. I like the eyeliner, but I'm not happy with the fact that I thought I was getting 2 of them. I mean if I wanted only 1 I would have just gone to the store and bought it. I seriously hope the other one comes in the mail soon or I will be making a phone call. And they should really think about changing the description to pack of 1.
