Burt's Bees Lifeguard's Choice Weatherproofing Lip Balm , .15-Ounce Tubes (Pack of 6)

The feeling of this balm is thicker and more waxy/gummy than the regular Burt's Bees lip balm (which I love and use regularly), and is the best balm I've tried in protecting your lips from extremely harsh environmental conditions. Not the best choice for everyday, however, when in a more moderate, normal environment, and more conscious of your appearance in front of others. It will turn your lips, and skin around your lips that the balm touches, white (or at least paler in comparison to the rest of you) probably due to sunscreen ingredients. I still recommend Burt's Bees regular balm, or any of their others (honey, pomegranate, medicated) as I've tried them all and have had no problem with any except this one. If you were looking at this for a balm with sunscreen, I would recommend trying other brands, unless you don't mind the clownish white ring around your mouth. Kiss My Face makes some organic SPF 15 balms that I enjoy, and don't turn my lips white.

This lip balm is designed for spending a lot of time in the sun @ the beach, boating, skiing etc. It's called "LIFEGUARD's CHOICE WEATHERPROOFING" lip balm, not 'LIP BEAUTIFIER MAKEUP.' If you have ever seen a lifeguard or someone who spends a lot of time in the sun, they need some SERIOUS LIP BALM. The number 1 way to block UV light is with an opaque substance like titanium dioxide, and that is what is in this. Remember the old days of sun protection when the only way to prevent your nose and lips was to put on zinc oxide, regardless of how that looked?

This balm does give your lips a white cast, and I would even say that it looks good in the environment that it was designed for. Sexy outdoor beach dude look.

So when that's what you need, I highly recommend this lip balm, and if it's not what you need, then Burt's Bees has 20 other lip balms, flavored, shimmery, shiny and sparkly.

Yes, this lip balm will turn your lips white, and people will comment on that. HOWEVER, it is the only lip balm I have found that doesn't leave a chemical taste in your mouth if you're out in the sun being active and sweating. That's because it uses titanium dioxide rather than chemicals like oxybenzone to block the UV rays. The downside is, of course, that the titanium dioxide also turns your lips white. For me, I'd rather look a little silly than have a nasty taste in my mouth all day. Plus, this lip balm has the nice minty feel and taste of Burt's Bees regular lip balm, so it feels great.

This tube of chap stick is white.I like that the texture is not tacky or greasy.You put it on and it stays on; however, because it is white, you must use it in moderation or you will look like your lips have no life to them.I personally like the color of slightly muted lip tones, but if you use too much, then your lips turn into a light lavender color which is less than desirable.I like that it protects your lips from the sun and snow though.
