Neutrogena Healthy Defense Daily Moisturizer with PureScreen, SPF 50, 1.7 Ounce (Pack of 2)

Neutrogena Healthy Defense Daily Moisturizer with PureScreen, SPF 50, 1.7 OunceI bought this product because I couldn't find Neutrogena's Healthy Defense daily moisturizer with an spf of 45, & thought this product had replaced it. The label says it's for sensitive skin, which appealed to me because my skin is very sensitive. After trying it for about a week, I can say it:

1. Causes my skin to sting, which the spf 45 never did

2. Causes my skin to break out, which the spf 45 never did.

3. It feels greasy, which the spf 45 product never did.

I compared the active ingredients listed on the two different bottles. The SPF 45 contains:avobenzene, homosalate, octisalate, octocrylene, and oxybenzone.

The newer product, "for sensitive skin," with an spf of 50, contains: titanium dioxide, and zinc oxide.

Different contents, different results. I am not happy with the results of Healthy Defense daily moisturizer spf 50 purescreen for sensitive skin and will not purchase it again.

This is a great product for my sensitive skin.I cannot use chemical sunscreens on my face, those WILL sting.I can use physical sunblocks, which this product has.Zinc Oxide and Titanium Dioxide do leave a white cast, but I found it not noticeable if applied properly and given time to dry.I also have very fair skin, so anyone who has a darker skin tone will likely notice more of the whitish cast of the product. It does need time to "dry", but I have no problems waiting the couple of minutes that takes.Neutrogena still makes lots of sunscreens with the chemical sunblock too, which needs to be stable to have long lasting sunscreening ability. With physical sunblocks this is not as much of an issue. As with all reviews, what works best for one does not work for another, the key is in knowing what ingredients your skin may or may not like, and going from there.

This moisturizer made my skin feel hydrated all day. It didn't gum up under my creme to powder foundation. It didn't cause any skin irritation, which often happens to me when I try a new product. I will definitely use it again when I know I'm going to be out in the sun. I won't use it everyday because of the white cast it leaves. I don't want to look washed out when I'm not wearing make-up.

I have had great luck with most Neutrogena products that contain sunscreen. The previous ones I used all contained the active ingredient avobenzone (or Helioplex) and I had to apply then VERY carefully around my eyes, because if I even perspired slightly some of the product would go into my eyes and sting. I don't have this problem with this product and I wonder if it's due to the fact that it contains physical sunblocks instead of chemical ones.

I haven't noticed the whiteish tinge other people commented on. I have light-medium skin that gets oily, and I find that this product helps control the shine on my face. It feels very light, not sticky at all, and only takes a minute to fully dry before I put on my makeup.

For years I have been using Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Dry-Touch Sunblock and it has worked wonderfully. My only qualm with it was the slight odor it left, and I would use a body mist to cover it and all was well.

What attracted me to using Neutrogena for Sensitive Skin is because I already use the Healthy Defense Daily Moisturizer with PureScreen in SPF 50. I was drawn to the PureScreen part and waited for an all-over sunscreen by Neutrogena that was the same. No harsh chemicals and something I could reliably use on a daily basis.

I have sensitive skin so this appealed to me on many levels. I have tried other brands in the past and have had rashes in the spots where I applied sunscreen, and my face even puffed up. Horrific.

The first thing I noticed about this sunscreen is that there is no odor, compared to the Ultra Sheer Dry-Touch. Second is that it applied smoothly. I didn't have a "white cast" as others have stated. I have relatively fair skin however so it may not be as noticeable, but I do blend well. It does feel slightly heavier than the Ultra Sheer Dry-Touch, but my skin feels smoother.

All in all I have to say that I enjoy this product and I will purchase it again.
