This UV Meter is great and very accurate (according with UV forecasts). If very fast in reading the radiation, plus its shows the time you can be safely at the sun, according with you skin type and SPF you're using if used. In cloudy days it's very useful cause it's not always safe to go out without SPF, especially for kids.

I bought this for my husband to keep on his golf bag.Despite having a small melanoma removed, he sometimes still "forgets" to apply sunscreen and/or avoid the sun altogether on certain days.I thought the uv meter could serve as a reminder for him to pay attention to the sun.

However, I decided to keep it for myself.We have two little kids, and I've found this device completely eliminates the daily guessing game of whether or not to apply sunscreen.Additionally, it makes convincing the kids to apply sunscreen much, MUCH easier.I just show them the readout "Ok, with no sunscreen, here's how long you can stay outside today: thirteen minutes.Or we can put on sunscreen and you can be out for, let's see...four hours!"

Surprisingly, it has also prevented us from slathering on the sunscreen at times when the UV was lower than I would have predicted and it seems accurate, as they haven't been burned on those days.

We've only had it for a few weeks but it is still working normally.It's a keeper, and I'm finally back here to buy another one for my husband's bag!

This UV sensor is great.

It not only tells you the UV level.

You can dial in the sunscreen SPF (1 for none, up to 50), then select your skin type.

It then displays how long you can be exposed to the sun.

It counts down and then sounds an alarm when the time is up.

I say that it is "very smart" because, as a cloud goes over, it takes that into account; it even takes into account how dense the cloud is (ie, how much UV is getting through the cloud).

I am so impressed with it that I have bought 10 more and gave them to friends.

And I am buying at least 10 more today.

This product worked fine for three whole days.It provided UV index readings and calculated exposure time based on UV readings, skin type, and SPF.Unfortunately, the device was extremely flimsy and poorly constructed.It could not withstand the turbulent forces of being placed in a backpack with other objects.The screen became unreadable as ink splotched its exterior.If you care for the product like a new-born, you may have some luck with it.
