This BB cream from Skin Food is very light. It applies on your face well, but at first seems very oily and shines a little. After 10 minutes or so the product settles and has a nice matte finish. It's very good at concealing freckles and acne related blotches whilst maintaining a natural look. I found the BB cream made my skin tone more even and did not look like a foundation. It made my skin look fresh, clean and natural not cakey. In fact my boyfriend couldn't tell the difference, but said I looked healthier and cleaner.

I have very freckley skin and the BB cream visibly reduced the appearence of the freckles on the first application (although I suppose I would need a heavy foundation to completely cover them), which is good as I like to maintain a natural look. It also has a fragrance similar to Skin79's BB creams which is pleasant but not overbearing. Other BB creams and foundations sometimes give me itchy skin, but this one (so far) hasn't caused me any problems.

The reason I like this BB cream the most is because the company "Skin Food" is a cruelty-free cosmetics brand, and the product works just as well as similar popular BB creams.

Excellent for clearing up post inflammatory hyper pigmentation. I'm fair skinned (very very pale), so I can scar easily. With trouble combination skin, acne, age, etc...this has been a problem I've dealt with for years, nearly decades. The problem with cystic acne is you can develop post inflammatory hyper pigmentation, which in simple terms are those dark splotchy purple/red spots that linger for months as it heals, sometimes even permanently scarring the area. And if you are older than your usual acne sufferer (ie a teenager), it takes even longer for them to go away because of the time it takes for collagen & elastin to be produced in the body. They are unsightly & seem to take forever to go away, especially if you get multiple flare ups of acne atop the same spot. Well, I finally managed to get the acne under control & decided I needed to get a product that could help clear up the dark marks left over on my cheeks. I've seen dermatologists multiple times for both acne & scarring, & although they are very capable, at times their remedies are costly. I needed something affordable and effective. I happened across this product amidst researched reviews & reports. It was priced affordably and seemed to have majority positive reviews on various sites. I did buy this elsewhere in a single tube to try it first, before investing in a multi-pack. There are two kinds: normal & oily skin. I got the one for normal, though perhaps I should have considered for oily, as it will moisturize the sites in which you apply it. But I've not broken out because of it thus far. I've used it for about a week now, apply twice a day as it recommends. I wash my face, treat it for acne, apply this (ONLY to the sites of discoloration), & top it off with sunblock. I wear sunblock anyway, but it is HIGHLY recommended that you wear it, especially when using this product. It works by inhibiting the production of melanin in the skin, within the site of application. Not using sunscreen/block, allows the spots to return once you have finishing using Ambi, because the skin's melanin is what makes us tan & freckle; protecting & reacting to the sun's rays. Thus, this will make you more photo sensitive to the sun for a while. It does have it's own sunscreen mixed in, but you should really be mindful of your skin (the largest organ of your body) & wear sunscreen everyday. & don't trust the ones only in your make up. It degrades over time & tends to be a low spf. I digress, in the short amount of time, Ambi has managed not to break me out further & the areas of extreme discoloration have already improved by 50%. I'm extremely please with the results. The majority of dark purple contrast has faded to a light pink or pale red. This type of result would have taken me weeks without assistance. Ambi recommends you use it for about 3 months & discontinue use thereafter. I would theorize that my spots will diminish adequately long before then. Remember, there is no magic cure or youth potion, but if you take care of your skin when you are in your teens & early 20's (avoiding excessive sun, wearing sunscreen, handling acne, etc...) you'll be much better off in the long run. And if you are going to use ANY lightening cream, be mindful that you are going to be more photosensitive afterwords; wear sunscreen.

La Roche Posay Anthelios XL Melt-In Cream SPF 50+

I am an avid golfer in California. Everyone who golfs regularly knows a strong sunscreen is a must if you want to protect your skin.

I have used various sunscreens of SPF 30-55. They are from Neutrogena and Coppertone. Although both gave me some sun protection, I felt neither gave me satisfactory results as my skin always became noticeably darker even when I wore ample amounts of SPF 55+ non-Mexoryl Sunscreens.

Then I did some research on the best possible sunscreen and I found it was Mexoryl. It is the supreme sun protectant because it covers the broadest spectrum of UVA, which causes the most of the sunburns. Additionally, Mexoryl's chemical properties are very resilient to the intense radiation of the sun, providing lasting protection.

As soon as FDA approved Mexoryl three years ago ago, I bought Anthelios, which is SPF 60. I have used Anthelios practically everyday, including weekends, in the last 5 weeks. Here is what I have found:

Pros:

1)The sunscreen is very easy on the eyes and doesn't sting as much as other sunscreens. You can safely apply them around your face without the fear of the painful and dreaded sunscreen eye sting.

2)The sunscreen protects you reasonably well, better than any other sunscreen I have tried, but only marginally. This is not a perfect sun protection. Rather, it is just better than its mediocre competitors. Don't expect this product to keep your skin from getting significantly darker.

Cons:

1)This is the most expensive sunscreen I know.

2)The sunscreen feels stickier than most. It leaves somewhat of a greasy feel on your face, but it isn't too bad. It is definitely wearable for daytime activities such as work.

3)This sunscreen is not water or sweat resistent. It comes off very easily under water or perspiration.

Overall, this is a good sunscreen but only marginally better than its much cheaper competitors. I expect the US market will have many more sunscreens with Mexoryl in the near future at more competitive prices.

This is great news that Amazon is caring this product.I have always had to purchase it overseas because it was not available in the United States.I would bring home sunscreen for my children, grandchildren, friends, and myself.This is the very best of the best in sunblock products.Thank you stocking it.

This is not a new productit's been available in Europe for a while, but the UVA blocker (Mexoryl)has recently been approved by the FDA. Dermatologists love this stuff! It IS a bit greasy, but I think it's the best of the unpleasant options we have for sunscreen. No offensive smell, no stinging, no chemicals. I have occasionally had to use blotting paper to reduce the shine though! And it seems to stay on all day (of course if you go swimming etc. you would probably have to reapply), which I appreciate because I really don't want to have to think about sunscreen after I put it on in the morning. Dermatologists always say that the best sunscreen is the one you'll use, and this is it for me.

I thought I would let others know that as of today (3/28/12), the ingredients in this newer formulation do not match those listed on the website.They have taken out the retinyl palmitate (probably because of the fears that it is a dangerous substance in sunscreens, though I don't think there is a definitive consensus on that).But at least for me, this formulation is very drying to my skin, and, as others have mentioned, a bit hard to get off.I used it on my kids for a week and I could see their skin get drier and take on an "ashy" look (especially at the neck).Otherwise, it seems to work fine as a sunscreen.The tint is non-obtrusive.I think you will have to try for yourself to see if it works for you.FYI, the new ingredients (off the back of the box) are as follows:

I got a sample of this product at a spa and instantly was wowed. Enough that i shelled out for the full size deal.

Elta MD UV Physical SPF 41 is one of my top sunscreens because:

1) it's tinted with a good pigment level, saving you a valuable layering step in the moisturizer + foundation+ sunblock routine, and it's neutral in shade. I vary between MAC NC 15-30 and i can totally wear this as tinted moisturizer.

2) it's matte and oil-absorbent---even if you have dry flakes, it won't exacerbate them--i have retinol-treated skin which flakes like crazy, and this formula actually helps flakes ADHERE to the skin so you're not peeling like a monster midday. i have fresh-as-a-daisy skin even at 5pm.

3), it's long-wearing, most likely due to the absorbency.

4) it's zinc and titanium sunblock at spf 40! how much better can you get, esp. with all the furor over chemical sunblocks. Quite simply, it's a much better alternative to my previous HG of tinted spfs, MD Skincare by Dennis Gross.

Physical sunblocks are the way to go. I'll be wearing this all summer as my foundation + sunscreen.

I wish I could give Elta MD's UV Phys SPF 41 10 stars!!!I have searched forever for a sunblock like this.I've tried Jan Marini, Neova Ti-Silc, Neurtogena, Anthelios--You name it, I've tried it.None of them hold a candle to this sunblock.First of all, the fact that there are no chemicals, make this wonderful for sensitive skin that is being treated with Retin-A, or other skin care products that make skin irritated/sensitive, but require that you use a daily sunscreen.I also suffer from Melasma that requires a physical block with high percentage of zinc oxide.This fits the bill there, too.It's tinted, which is a nice change from the chalky white associated with physical sunblocks.I have light olive-toned skin and it's almost like wearing a tinted moisturizer with a slight sheen. I'm actually pretty pleased with this.I haven't used Covergirl foundation in several years because it started to disappoint me.When this came out, I read some positive reviews on other sites and thought, "What the heck, I'll give this a try."It's actually better than I was expecting.

First of all (I hope this isn't confusing), I like that you can twist the pump one way to open it up completely and then turn it the other way to close it so that none comes out, on top of putting the lid on it (This is also done on some face washes or moisturizers so if you have them you know what I'm talking about).The product is very light and feels very comfortable on my skin; it doesn't feel gross at all.Matched with this is the fact that it gives really great coverage and it's easy to blend.It dries to a matte finish.As for lasting power, it controls oil for most of the day.Sometimes when I remove it at night, my forehead is shiny but it doesn't feel greasy.For reference, I have oily, acne-prone skin.This product does not dry out my skin or make me break out.

I also like that on Covergirl's website, you can answer a few questions and get "color-matched."I'm sure it's not as reliable as a makeup counter in a department store (because it's up to you to pick the answer that best fits) but it's accurate and I think it's great for people who aren't sure what shade they are.

Bottom line: This is a lightweight formula that is easy to blend and does a really good job of covering imperfections.It feels light and comfortable on your skin and stays on all day, keeping you matte for most of it.The price is reasonable (around $10 in stores), the pump on the bottle is nice, and it is a good match to my skin tone.I'd recommend and I may be going back to Covergirl foundations with this product.

This foundation gives a good, matte coverage. The trick is to either apply it quickly or use a light moisturizer first. The reason is the foundation sets in a few seconds. It can be hard to blend w/o moisturizer or using fast fingers. It does stay on all day without needing a touch up. I would buy it again as it is one of the best I have tried in this price range. This is an additional comment to above, about 6 weeks later. I still love the foundation. Some of my friends think I had laser treatments under my eyes! You may not need to work fast, as I initially stated. I forgot to shake the bottle first. If you shake first, the moisture lotion in the product is distrbutied and it goes on more smoothly used alone or with a light moisturizer than previously stated.

I think this a really good foundation if you are looking for something very wearable, everyday basis. It gives medium coverage right away, I apply it with my real techniques face brush, but it's very buildable... because it's liquid enough that you can play around a bit before it totally sets and then you can go again and apply more if you need/want it. So I dont agree that it has "the coverage of a concealer" because it doesnt, I have darkness under my eyes and this alone doesnt do the job.

But oh my gosh. The feeling that you get in your skin is a powdery-velvety one, I dont know quite how to put my finger on it. But I really like it, my skin looks matte but it still has some luminescence after NOT an oily finish. And it does last through the day just as if you would have used a primer.

I totally recommend it! Considering: I really dont have any sever skin issues, like dark spots or scars. I just get a few pimples when im around my period, and of course my undereye circles. My skin type is combo (Somewhat oily on my T-zone and dry (really dry sometimes) on my cheeks)

P.S. I have found that the foundation does cling on my dry patches so that makes me think that this isnt for someone with purely dry skin.

This is the best drugstore foundation I have tried yet. I used a sponge applicator and used maybe half a pea sized amount covered my entire face. I have sun spots and redness and this foundation covered every bit of it. I have fair skin and this color blended perfectly and doesn't look fake. It does not sink into my pores, which I was worried about since I have combination skin/T-zone problems. I was VERY impressed after trying this, and it is difficult for a liquid foundation to impress me.

I started using this foundation about a month ago and I have not stopped using it since. This is my go-to foundation and I use it daily.

I have oily/combination skin and this keeps me non-shiny and smooth all day.

PROS:

-Stays on ALL day, doesn't smudge or slide.

-Color matches well and they have a good color selection.

-Sets quickly, stays matte all day.

-Works great with oily/combination skin.

CONS:

-Has good coverage, but I still need concealer for my under-eye area.

I would highly recommend this to anyone who doesn't want to spend too much on foundation but is looking for a foundation that is wonderful!

I think that this product works very well on my face and throat.In the past, sunless tanners have looked blotchy on my throat area, but this product directs you to apply moisturizer first and that makes all the difference!It's very thin, so a little goes a long way-doesn't feel greasy and the scent is slight.

This face mostuirizer is very nice. The consistency isn't too thick either which allows it to go on nicely. It also has an okay smell to it too. Like other reviewers have mentioned it is very gradual, but for me I like that so it wasn't a deal breaker. I also like how nice my skin feels after I apply it. It also gives my skin a very nice sheen with a dewy glow. I only use this product every other day so it doesn't get too dark or start to look orange as I have very fair skin.

I have sensitive and pale skin. I liked this tanner as it didn't cause me to break out and is not greasy. However, sometimes it can sting a little and the fragrance is a bit strong at times. Overall, the color is good not too orange, streak free and gradually builds. However, the color is not entirely long lasting and must be applied nearly everyday to keep up a light/medium tan. I haven't found a better self-tanner for face that in oil-free.

Devita Natural Skin Care Solar Body Block SPF 30+

I picked this product because of the EWG report. As a lotion, I thought it was very nice, although more than I need in hot, humid weather. Definitely too rich for my face anytime but winter. But as protection, I would NOT rely on it. We went on vacation this Spring and it did not protect me.

It was still cool and cloudy a lot of the time, and I was wearing shirts and hats. I not only slathered this on, but layered the Devita 50 spf professional face cream on top and used both products all over my body. I didn't burn, but got very brown on my arms. And I didn't get brown as in a tan, but brown as in splotchy sun spots. I'm fair, and the discoloration has still not faded all the way (3 months) and I'm afraid the brown spots are here to stay.

I think it could be an excellent body lotion if you were not going to be outside. But if you are using it for sun protection, and you plan to be out over 30 minutes, I would put something more reliable on top.

I also noted that even though this product is in the EWG database, it is not in the Best Sport & Beach category, and for that level of protection I would recommend a product from that list.

I love this sunscreen. I use it on my face every day because it is less expensive than the facial one.
