I have used this lotion before because I AM one of the people who works in a tanning salon and sells you lotion but I DO sometimes order my own online. This is more of an warning for people with soybeans allergies...external soybean application on face can also induce allergies.I rated 3 stars since I've been told it does help reduce the redness. I decided to try this product after several skin disasters.I have pretty fair skin and my face is super sensitive to chemicals in sunscreens.I've tried several brands, and my face would be itchy the next day and then train wreck into a peeling/burning/scale-y skin mess.It would ruin my face for about 2 weeks which is no fun.I was going to try the "all natural" route of sunscreens, but found that they were way too expensive and most are not water-resistant.This product has no odor, does an awesome job at protecting my skin from sunburn and it doesn't make my face angry!For those that say these types of sunscreens make you look "white," maybe you're using too much of the product.The other reviewer was right, a little does go a long way.It did rub in all the way so I didn't have problems with having that white tint I've heard of.I will buy and use this every summer!

My husband and I wore this all day working in the yard with no burns. The whiteness of the zinc didn't bother us, but like I said we are extremely fair and already pretty white so we didn't notice any white tone to our faces.

Works great for long hiking trips. It does sting a little if you get it in your eyes and you do have to really rub it in to make the white color disappear, but I think that's why it works so well.

Another bonus is that it doesn't make my skin break out, like other sunscreens do.

I did have to wait an additional two weeks for this product but it was worth it.

This is probably my favorite face sunscreen I have ever used. Good protection, goes on easy and doesnt just sit on surface actually gets into skin for longer protection. Also: has a slightly citrusy smell that makes it even more enjoyable to wear.

I started using this tanning lotion last year and really liked it. I started going back to the tanning bed this year and couldn't find it so I just didn't use anything and wasn't getting much of a tan. Luckily the tanning salon had 2 bottles left,and one of them they had used for samples, so I bought the other one and used it that day and I could really tell a difference. It does have some tingle but not anything that you can't take and it quits after about 30 mins. It gave my skin tone a whole different color, it actually looks like you have been in the sun. I would recommend it to anyone that wants that "been in the sun" look and it's not as expensive as some of the tanning lotions that I've looked at. It's worth the price and if you don't like it you're not out that much money.

The product is okay, not as hot and tingly as I would like but I would buy buy it again. The price is wonderful for the product.

California Baby SPF30+ Sunscreen Lotion, Everyday/Year Round, Water Resistant and Hypo-Allergenic,

I climb mountains, so my skin gets the maximum possible exposure to the sun (direct, high altitudes = less atmospheric protection, and reflection off the snow from below). I purchased this and three other highly rated sunscreens. The others are zinc or titanium oxide based. All do a fairly good job of protecting my skin.

The big difference, and why this one wins out over the others is the smoothness of application. The others are rather 'stiff', and require a fair bit of working in to get good coverage and no white spots. I always end up coming home with a spot or two that got missed (elbows, back of the arm, etc) and are bright pink. Not to mention the white stains on my shirts.With this sunscreen, it goes on smoothly, lasts the 3-5 hours between applications (may last longer, but I don't even try), and I don't have sensitive pink spots in out of the way places.

I got this product because it's one of the super safe sunscreens recommended by the environmental working group. It's great, but if you sweat a lot it does sting your eyes a little bit. I also got Badger sunscreen at the same time, and it was equally good but did not sting my eyes, so I recommend badger sunscreen over this one.

My baby was going to be under 6 months during the hot, sunny summer months.I bought this sunscreen for her and found that it was gentle and effective.I could reapply it as needed and she was fine.

It goes on pretty thick and white so you can really make sure you're spreading it everywhere you want to.However, I did find a little goes a long way or else it's too thick and you can't get it all rubbed in.

Even after a beach vacation, she didn't get a ray of sun.

I bought this sunscreen for myself and my 2 boys ages 6 & 14. I've only used it once on my 6 yr old because it was soooo much trouble to put on. It is extremely thick and difficult to rub in evenly on the skin. It rates very well for protection and safety of ingredients but if your trying to put it on anyone over the age of 1 who is mobile then it's tough to use.

Badger SPF 34 Sunscreen and Face Stick SPF 35 Combo Pack

I carefully reviewed the guidance by the Environmental Working Group, then looked on Amazon only for the top tier sunscreens.I then chose the least expensive among that top tier.We tried this on our kids and it works great!Also unlike other sunscreens you don't have to wait after applying it before going in the water.The only disadvantage for those who care about this sort of thing is that it is visibly white where the sunscreen is applied, though I consider that an advantage that way you know you didn't miss a spot on your children.

Pros: I've only really used the sunscreen and face stick once so far this Summer but it definitely seems to get the job done. In saying this I'm of course making the assumption that my son would've been burned without it (he's 16 months old and Mulatto so he's never been burned).

In terms of waterproof I would definitely say so because myself not being very experienced with sunscreen I tried to apply it before driving and when trying to wash it off at the sink with soap and water it was not an easy task to get it off. It is somewhat oily but that is to be expected so that it doesn't break down when in contact with sweat or water.

Cons:

The face stick itself is a bit difficult to rub in because it is not very pliable. The sunscreen itself is much easier to work with and both have a fairly neutral smell.

These products being fairly white do seem to stain things a bit, I haven't really tried to get out the stains but they don't look like they'll come out of his car seat... This is probably true of a lot of sunblocks, especially natural ones I suspect.

I was really enthusiastic about getting this product, but I've been fairly disappointed with it. It is an EXCELLENT sunscreen, and has a good waterproof duration, but I found it more trouble than it was worth. It is super thick and waxy, which makes it hard to spread and results in a very visible white residue all over. I'm fairly tanned by nature, and I was shocked to see this made my skin look very pale. No amount of thin application or rubbing-in will reduce how considerably it discolors my skin tone. The next problem I had with it was that it had a fairly potent, waxy smell to it. Not the good kind either. I'm really sensitive to scents, so I didn't like how if I put on just a bit too much, the scent would give me headaches. Lastly, I found that NONE of my friends wanted to share this sunscreen with me. They'd try it once, and from that point on, bring their own sunscreen. It's incredibly embarrassing and disappointing to host a pool party and not be able to provide your guests with sunscreen.

That being said... it's a good product for what it is, and I'd recommend it for young children and people who aren't as nit-picky as I am.

Alba Botanica Mineral Sunscreen

I chose this one from the ewg website because of its relatively low rating, plus its SUPER CHEAP compared to the others.Its 1.40$ an ounce, when the others are more like 5$-10$ or more an ounce.It works amazing, I havent burned once and my skin is pretty fair.Im in the sun every afternoon and allday on the weekends during summer and barely need to reapply even after getting in and out of the water.My only complaint is that its thicker than Im used to.But it WONT leave you white, so Ive heard of worse out there!I only use this on my body and I use supergoop! AM moisturizer 35 spf on my face (which I LOVE except for its price 9.30$ an ounce).Even though I have dry skin, Im prone to breaking out from thick products and Im not going to risk it!This product is the best for the price and effectiveness!!!

I'm a convert.I like this as a healthier version sunscreen.Absorbs well.The price is right.I wish the bottle were bigger.

The environmental working group gave this product a rating of 2/8 with 0 being the best and 8 being the worst. For the price it is the healthiest option. This sunblock is very similar to the Alba green tea spf. It doesn't irritate my skin, feels light and fades easily like body butter. Only con is it starts to feel dry after awhile. I love that this doesn't expire until 2015. Personally I think the green tea formula more, but that is rated a 6/8.

I do have a problem with the shipment container though, but didn't rate the product based on that. This item arrived in the thin box normally reserved for Amazon books. Its nice to see Amazon using smaller packages, but for an item like this the book box doesn't work because its to thin. They need to use a small traditional box, place a sticker on the cap and wrap the tube in a layer of bubble wrap.If they can do that in a book box even better. I've been ordering stuff online for years and have never seen such awful packaging or had product arrive leaking. The sunscreen was in a plastic bag which offered NO protection. The product had been squeezed and the cap was open about 5 days worth of sunblock was stuck inside the lid and inside the bag. There goes the extra pennies I saved doing subscribe and save. If my next shipment arrives like this I'm going to just buy this product from another site.

It's very emollient as promised, but it's very greasy. Leaves your face shiny. I have to blot my face with a tissue before applying makeup, which might reduce it's sunblock effectiveness (not sure).

Best sunscreen I've used.I flyfish the tropical flats for three weeks at a time.I don't even get a tan when using Sol.While a tan might be a nice look, it tells me I'm getting too much sun.I've tried other products up to SPF 50 and more and still come through with a tan.Also, this does not run down into your eyes and does not eat plastic that it comes into contact with like a flyline.It goes on easily.I can't think of a single negative to Sol Bluewater.
