SanRe Organic Skinfood - Sparkling Aloe - Organic Aloe Vera Day Cream For Oily/Combination to Acne

I chose this formula over the other two SPF30 formulas because I have combination skin.Also because EWP rates Sanre SPF30 as a good/safe sunblock moisturizer.I'm not sure if this is suitable for my combination skin though.When you open the jar, the cream looks like a well packed lard (it looks totally ok) and not shiny at all.When I applied the creme on my face, it looks shiny, with absolutely no white film, and leaves skin a little sticky after a few minutes.I'm not completely satisfied.I wish Karen's Botanicals made SPF30 formulas (SPF15 available only) but until they do, I will keep searching for that perfect non-chemical, all natural moisturizer with higher sun protection.

I *really* wanted to love this product, especially since it's almost impossible to find a face moisturizer that has SPF and is organic.

Sadly, as soon as I tried it, my face started turning red very, VERY red.I do NOT have sensitive skin and I've never had an allergic reaction to ANY product but my skin does not tolerate Sparkling Aloe day cream.

I was also sent a trial of the "Siesta Sunset" so I tried that and SAME thing (so I'll post this review there as well). So there must be some SanRe ingredient that doesn't agree with me.

Otherwise, scent and texture were agreeable. Bit on the pricey side but if it worked out I'd be willing to pay it (it's worth it)!

Side note: Interestingly enough, I tried leaving this review on the SanRe website but obviously they only accept 5 star praises (and once in awhile a 4 star praise), as mine was not accepted for posting.

I was hesitating in ordering this cream as I have very oily skin and other people have reviewed it as a bit greasy. The first time I used it I realized exactly what they meant. Compared to my other moisturizing lotion/gel, this cream feels very rich on the skin. This is a no-no for oily skin but I though I'd give it a week and see what I think...well it's been a week and I love this moisturizer. I do not notice any extra oiliness since using this cream and I love that it has natural ingredients and high SPF! Hawaiian Tropic Sheer Touch Spf 30 Sunscreen Continuous Spray 6-Ounce

I like this stuff because it doesn't have that powerful chemical smell that coppertone and others have that screams "I'm going to the beach!!!" to everyone in your vicinity. Instead, it has a non-offensive mild coconut scent. Most importantly, I like the sheer touch aspect because it isn't nearly as sticky and slimy as other sunscreens. Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Dry-touch Sunblock Lotion with Helioplex, Spf 70 - 3 Oz (Pack of 2)

I have used this product for 2 months now and mostly for golfing and bicycling. Both activities exposes a person to plenty of sunshine especially in Southern California.

This product is almost identifical to the SPF 55 version. The SPF 55 version has 10% HOMOSALATE (which is not Helioplex) and the SPF 70 version has 15% HOMOSALATE. That seems to be the only difference according to the "active ingrediants". The Helioplex (AVOBENZONE) remains exactly the same at 3%.

My subjective tests failed to reveal SPF 70 is significantly better than SPF 55. The good news is that the SPF 55 version is an excellent sunscreen, and quite possibly the best in the market. The SPF 70 protects the person just as well, but not by 20%-25% margin as one would reasonably expect with 15 SPF increase.

Few other things of note:

1)There is no such thing as perfect sun protection except for staying out of sunshine all together. Your skin will become noticeably darker even after ample application of this sunscreen, but not by much.

2)You should put on ample amount of sunscreen to get any reasonably good sun protection. Please do not use skimpy amounts unless you want to get a good tan without sunburns.

3)DO NOT APPLY OVER THE EYES AND THE FOREHEAD (put on a cap). If you have been stung in the eyes with sunscreen before you know you would rather avoid the experience.

4)This product is water resistent and does not wear off easily. So I highly recommend this for swimmers and beach bums.

5)The SPF 70 version leaves noticeably more residue than the SPF 55 version. So if you want less residue with almost as good sun protection, I recommend the SPF 55 version. The overall residue is very much acceptable and is not readily visible to the eye.

I have been using the Neutrogena sunscreen products for over 4 years and have been very pleased with them. I think the sunscreen in the spray can is the best spray out there. However, I got this small tube of 70 spf sunscreen with two of the spray cans at Costco and it caused me to have a severe allergic reaction on my face. As I write this my face is so swollen that I can barely see. The nurses at my doctor's office told me that the SPF 70 is too strong and I have not been the only one to come in with this problem. I have used the SPF 45/55 have find it to be a much better product.

I have oily skin.Almost all sunscreens I've tried are greasy (even the ones that are supposed to be "oil-free").Neutrogena Dry Touch is not greasy at all, feels great on the skin.It has a very faint scent, good for me because I don't like strong fragrances.As far as the sun protection from the Helioplex ingredient, I don't think it's as good as Mexoryl, which I get in L'Oreal Anthelios Fluide Extreme SPF 50 (also a non-greasy product).But this formulation of Anthelios is expensive and hard to obtain in the U.S. (our FDA has only approved Anthelios in the SPF 15 greasy cream), so I use Neutrogena with Helioplex as an alternate product sometimes.

Overall I really like this conditioner. My hair is relaxed and dry and I was attracted to it because it is sulfate free. The first time I used the conditioner, I was planning on leaving it in for a while because I wanted to deep condition. However, after about 5 minutes my scalp started to burn from the mint, so I had to rinse it out. However, when I used it after that first time and left the conditioner in a for a few minutes it no longer burns. I am not sure if I am used to it or if I simply have been rinsing it out after just a short period of time. It makes my hair soft and full. I recommend it to anybody with dry hair. I love the smell but it just may not be the best product to deep condition with.

I use this the most in my conditioner rotation. I don't shampoo daily (but when I do, it's with the EverStrong Shampoo). For curly hair, I use conditioner daily and scrub it in as if it were shampoo. I have excellent results with this product, as does my husband (he also has curly hair and until now, complains that conditioning products cause his hair to go flat). No flatness with this product. Light. Easy. I use it as a leave-in, also. Can use it daily. Slightly pricey, but worth it, as it only takes a small amount. Smells great, too! Bonus!!!!!!!

L'Oreal -please do not take this product off the market. I absolutely love this product and it has completely transformed my dry, brittle hair into soft, silky, moisturized hair. My hair was damaged -chemically processed and flat ironed daily! Now when I comb my hair, I do not experience any breakage. My hair is super-moisturized and softer than I can describe. I can't stop touching my hair throughout the day because it feels so amazing. I am absolutely shocked that a hair product that I purchased in a grocery store was able to outperform my expensive, high-end salon hair products. I actually stopped using my $25 bottle of designer hair conditioner in favor of this product.

I was a classic too-manly-for-hair-care male until I recently resolved (out of either vanity or self-respect, or maybe both) to start attending more carefully to my health/appearance/grooming. Hair is, of course, at the front line of that battle, so I interrogated some professional hair people and did some Internet browsing and learned that hair care is only partly a matter of what products you use. Healthy hair is also the result of things like drinking water and eating right and avoiding excessive sun or heat. Hair is, in fact, the most reliable indicator of whether a person is healthy. (See the Wikipedia page on "hair care," for starters.) And I learned that when it comes to hair products, I should look for ones that say "hydrating." (This as opposed to "moisturizing," which merely gives the appearance of hydration.) That's because hydrated hair is pretty much what healthy hair *is.*

I then spent a decent (if not ridiculous) amount of time browsing Amazon's hydrating hair products and reading the reviews, and then I experimented with 5 different, relatively inexpensive products.

The bottom line is that none of the 5 products are magical but I have noticed a mild to moderate improvement in shine, darkness, and thickness. (If you have recommendations for a near-magical product, I'm counting on you to let me know.) Given what I've seen from the different products, I will probably settle into a routine of using a small amount of the Frieda shampoo and conditioner daily, and then using an overnight treatment maybe once a month (but probably not the L'Oreal one).

That doesn't mean I recommend (or don't) any of these products for you. Another thing I learned while researching hair is that we are all unique little flowers with very different filaments on our noggins that respond differently to different things. So rather than recommending a particular product, I recommend that you do some trials and see what works for you.

Below is a detailed review of each product.

* L'Oreal EverStrong Conditioner (My rating: 3.2 stars) (Current price: $0.66/ounce) This seems to have the same effect as the Frieda conditioner (see below), except that it makes my hair even slightly more helmet-y. Also, it has an initially-strong scent that faintly lingers in my hair all day, even when I only use a dime-sized amount. It's a smell that I would describe as endurable but not pleasant.

* John Frieda Frizz-Ease Shampoo (4.3 stars) ($0.60/ounce) It works noticeably better than my old shampoo (Aussie Smooth). With this shampoo, my hair stays wet after a shower about 40% longer and it retains a subtle moisture all day. After a shower, when I comb my wet hair, I can hardly even feel it because there is so little resistance against the comb. In other words, my hair becomes a weird combination of wet and airy. The shampoo seems to work best when I leave it in for a minute or two before rinsing. I only need to use about a nickel-sized amount (I have medium-to-shaggy hair). It has a scent that is a little too much like a household cleaning product, but it's a faint smell and goes away after the shower.

* John Frieda Frizz-Ease Conditioner (3.8 stars) ($0.54/ounce) If the shampoo does most of the moisturizing "work," then the conditioner seems kind of like the sealant to lock it in and protect it all day, and to make your hair more "manageable." This conditioner does that job well enough but I only use a little bit of it because it makes my hair a little too helmet-y for my liking. Maybe you like that from a conditioner--I don't. I prefer that my hair move in the breeze. This conditioner would probably have a more desirable effect for people with long (at least shoulder-length) hair. As for the scent, I would describe it as "neutral."

* Paul Mitchell leave-in conditioner (3.0 stars) ($1.03/ounce) My second-biggest complaint with this product is that it is sort of annoying to apply after the shower, you have to dab a few blotches of it onto your damp hair and then brush it through. My biggest complaint is that it doesn't seem to be doing anything beyond what the other conditioners do. It works well enough and makes my hair nice and dark and helmet-y but so do the other conditioners. Plus, I don't think it's doing much to make my hair healthier because you only apply it to the end of the hair and not to the scalp. That means it also requires a good amount of the blue gel to work it through all of your hair.

* L'Oreal EverStrong Overnight Treatment (2.5 stars) ($1.76/ounce) I have only used it a few times but haven't noticed anything magical. You apply it to dry hair at night, work it through the ends, and then sleep with your hair in a mildly goopy state. I didn't check carefully, but I would be surprised if your hair doesn't leave a mark on your pillowcase.And it takes a lot of goop, even for a guy with reasonably short hair like me. Maybe it would be worth it if it gave my hair a brilliant luster or thickness, but it doesn't seem to do much at all, at least not above what the shampoo and conditioner are already doing. I am unlikely to get it again.

P.S. Many of these same products are probably available at your local Wal-Mart (or whatever), and probably for a 10-25% lower price.

P.P.S. A couple years ago, I experimented with using no hair products at all... for months. I had read some caveman-y theories about how hair products damage our hair because they crowd out the natural moisturizing chemicals and blah blah. All I can say is that it didn't work for me. It's true that my hair during those months was surprisingly less nappy and gross than I expected, and it's maybe even true that the artificial chemicals we put on our scalps have some serious, unwelcome consequences, but all I can say is that I much prefer how my hair looks and feels after it's been shampooed, to the point that I'm willing to take whatever risks those chemicals may pose.

A recent article in Consumer Reports rated Cetaphil and Eucerin highly so I had to give them a try. The Cetaphil still sits unused on my dresser, while the Eucerin Dry Skin Therapy gets daily use. I'd been using another product on my feet; it worked well until I became lax in using it daily. With my feet in poor condition, it was an opportune time to try something new.

After using the Eucerin twice daily on my cracked, dry soles and heals, I noticed improvement within three days. Now with daily used for several weeks, I'm pain and crack free down under. This sunscreen moisturizes without being overly greasy and it has a decent SPF.I would prefer if it was SPF 30, but this is as close as it comes to everything that I want in a sunscreen. My pores get clogged easily and this product doesn't cause any acne for me.It also doesn't have any of the hazardous ingredients that the Environmental Working Group lists as potentially harmful in sunscreens.This is my second tube and I haven't had any issues with sunburn on my face even though I have spent several hours at a time in the sun.

I received a generous sample of this sunscreen from my local med spa.It goes on smoothly and adds just enough moisture to my dry skin to feel wonderful.I am actually in love with it in terms of the way it feels when I put it on.However, after doing research on sunscreens, I am unsure whether the level of protection is enough.It has octinoxate and zinc oxide in it but both percentages are rather low.According to what I have been reading on the Internet, the coverage is probably not enough if you want a great coverage level.My Shiseido Sun Protection Lotion, which I love, but is not really a day cream and I need to use additional moisturizers with, contains 7.4% octinoxate and 16.3% zinc oxide while the IS Clinical product has 4.45% octinoxate and 2.94% zinc oxide.From what I have been reading, the less than 3% zinc oxide is not really a desirable level if you want full UVA and UVB protection on your face every day.Since I live in a sunny climate, that is what I want.If anyone has any alternative information to show I am wrong, please let me know, because I do really like this sunscreen.In the meantime, I will continue with my Shiseido sunscreen which I highly recommend.

I'm allergic to "something" that is in sunscreen, ever since I was a kid.I break out in some type of itchy hives.Especially on my lips, which get pick, broken out in tiny bumps, and itch and burn like crazy.Therefore, every summer I just try to stay out of the sun as much as possible, since I don't wear sunscreen.

Well recently, I went to get a beta facial peel, as I prepare my face to get married.The esetitian (sp?) warned me that because of the peel that I HAD to wear a sunscreen.She told me about Peter Thomas Roth mineral suncreen, and that I could get it from Sephora.Of course, I was like, "sure... I'll get it"... but thinking that I would be ok without it.Well after I left the spa, I starting walking down the street with no intention of purchasing the mineral sunscreen (I live in NYC).As soon as my face hit the sun, I could feel my face stinging.So I quickly found a Sephora on my phone, and luckily there was one 2 blocks away.I asked the Sephora staff where the Peter Thomas Roth mineral sunscreen, and as soon as I saw it, I grabbed the "tester" and brushed it on my face.I was hesitant to spend $30 on it, but I knew that I would need it.So I coughed up the money to purchase it.When I left, the sun hit my face... and no stinging... or breakouts.It worked like magic!

I'm so excited that I found this.I now brush on the sunscreen every morning before leaving out.I'm just excited that I can finally use sunscreen without having an allergic reaction.

If you have sensitve skin, this will work for you.I wish there was a "body" mineral brush, so that I could use it all over my body... oh well.

I got several awful sunburns using this product, just walking to and from my car.Unless it's applied all over and very thick, "SPF 30" is a laughable claim.The worst part is that since it's slightly pigmented, the burns weren't apparent until I washed my face.The brush is low-quality acrylic and as other reviewers have mentioned, it leaks and fills the air with powder when you try to apply it.It's a nice idea, but I'll stick with lotion or spray sunscreen.

what a great idea this product is!a totally portable sunscreen that I can re-apply during the day.as I am of Irish/Scottish descent, I really need to protect my skin from UVA rays.

this product does contain some pigment, which is probably necessary to prevent it from being 'chalky' on the skin.however, the product as a result gives my skin a yellowish tinge.

also, the dispensation mechanism needs to be improved.the brush tends to leak product.also, in pulling out the end in preparation to apply, the entire end popped off, showering me with powder.[I had not pulled hard.]after I finished laughing, I gathered up what I could and put it back into the cylinder.I lost about half of the product due to this design flaw.therefore, it is just about perfect.I would purchase this again, even with these shortcomings.

1. The packaging says it is translucent and it is actually tinted. The tint does not match tanned/dark skin.

2. Once removed, the protective plastic sleeve cannot go back on without crushing the bristles and bending them downward, thus damaging the product.

3. Uncovered, the powder comes out when the brush is jostled (like in your make-up bag), making a mess and wasting the powder.

4. The bottom cap managed to unscrew in my makeup bag spilling the contents out and all over my other makeup. This powder is not easy to remove! I had to use soap and water on everything (not such a good idea with powders and shadows) and throw out the bag.

I bought this because I had read rave reviews about it on several sites. After using multiple brands to try and find the perfect moisturizng tanner I was hoping this would be "The One"...but it wasn't. The smell is exactly like jergens which I don't like, and the color was a little too orangey for my pale skin. The color did develop quickly, but this just wasn't the dream product I was hoping for.Instead I bought my usual favorite(which is becoming next to impossible to find) Sally Hansen Smooth Glow Stubble Reducing Moisturizer. It is a great creamy moisturizer and the smell is actually good! It smells sweet with no undertones of the normal tanner smell. It also only comes in one shade which is good for all skin tones. It's subtle but noticeable. All in all, Hawaiian Tropic Island Glow isn't all i expected it to be.

out of all of the daily moistureizer and tan bottles ive tried, which is all of them, this is the best one.

This Hawaiian Tropic Glow Daily Moisturizer is generously sized compared to similar products. In my experience, it is easy to blend and is effective. It's not too dark... makes a nice tan after about 4 or 5 applications. Odor is not unpleasant. When you get to the end of the tube use, cut the tube with scissors and you can get remaining product out of the packaging (a way to get the last of it and enjoy another application!)

I really like this product, the reason for only 4 stars is the smell.This is a very subtle sunless tanner which I like a lot.It doesn't leave me orange, and it doesn't take too long to dry.The smell isn't bad, just a sunless tanner smell.I think if there was more of a tropical fragrance in there it would be perfect.

La Roche Posay Anthelios Xl 50+ Tinted Fluid 50 Ml

This is a good product for those with oily skin, as compared to La Roche-Posay's other tinted sunscreen, Anthelios XL SPF 50+ Tinted Melt-in Cream (which I'd recommend to those with dry to normal complexions). The only problem with it is that the liquid is so light and fluid, it's absorbed into the skin so quickly that you wonder if you're using enough of it to sufficiently cover the face. Nonetheless, I would highly recommend it. It has powerful sunscreens, but it's gentle enough for sensitive skin, and it has just enough tint to even out your skin tone without giving you an artificial, "made-up" look. I'd consider it as close to an ideal facial sunscreen as I've found, and I've tried A LOT of different ones.

This has a very high uva protection factor at ppd 34. The texture is super light and feels like nothing on the skin. It will not make your skin greasy, shiny or sticky. It will not leave a white cast to the complexion. The tint is a medium tan shade, with a slightly pinkish undertone. I am fair-med in hue with a yellow undertone. This sunscreen looks fine on my face despite the discrepancy in tone between me and it. I blend through throat and decolletage and it just barely tints my skin. If I was to use self tanner or have a tan, it would totally disappear. This will certainly not substitute for foundation, or even offer the cosmetic coverage of most tinted moisturizers. It stays well put on the face unless you are really exerting/sweating. The price is well worth the product. No US sunscreen comes close to this level of uva screening, with at best a ppd of 15 sold in states.

I have melasma (dark spots) on my nose, I needed a high SPF sunscreen and I wanted a tinted version. I've tried many sunscreens on my face but I find most of them are too greasy. "La Roche Posay Anthelios Xl 50+ Tinted Fluid" is not greasy, I do like the color of the tint as well, it blends well into my skin. With shipping I paid a total of $25 and I think this product is enough to last me through the summer. Overall Im happy with this product and I recommend it.

Banana Boat has long been my sunscreen of choice. Until now, I have used the cream product that comes in squeeze tubes. I use it when I go hiking or skiing in the mountains where the UV is more intense than at sea level. I used to use the SPF 30, but moved up to SPF 50 when the 50 became available.

The Banana Boat spray is interesting. It is easier to apply than the cream. It goes on easily and quickly with the exception that you are warned not to spray it on your face. You are advised to spray it on your hands and then rub it on your face. That does work.

Because of its ease of use, I am likely to use the spray for casual sun exposure, say bike riding or walking in partial shade, instead of using nothing because of the trouble involved with applying the cream variety. The spray does appear to be effective. Comparing, the spray can with the tube, I see that the active ingredients are similar.

The only negative that I found is the odor. It is not all that strong, but does last quite a while. The inactive ingredients listed on the spray can indicate that a "fragrance" has been added. I think that it is quite possible that the spray product would be better without the added fragrance.

I never thought I would be inclined towrite a review of a sun screen but here I am doing so. This stuff is crazy expensive but the smallest dab goes a long, long way. It glides over you face like it is on ball bearings, very fast and silky smooth. You can not feel that it is even on your skin afterwards and it stays on even when you're sweating and for some reason doesn't get into your eyes. I've found it to be very waterproof also.
