I've been really pleased with iS Clinical SPF 20 Powder Sunscreen Translucent. It was recommended to me by an esthetician and is much less pore-clogging than liquid sunscreen. I wear it over liquid foundation and it is not noticeable and has kept my face from getting burned in the summer sun.

Cactus Juice is a good bug repellent. It does pretty well in repelling both mosquitoes and biting flies. Unlike DEET, which creates a cloud of chemical that surrounds you, Cactus Juice seems to work by contact. Thus, unlike DEET, if you have a region of skin without treatment, the biters may find it and chomp down. So you have to be thorough in application. Of course, it isn't a neurotoxin or whatever, as DEET apparently is. So you probably aren't hurting yourself by using it frequently. I have skin allergies to some additives and fragrances found in lots of consumer products, and hate most of the cheap fragrances they put in stuff, so I was really happy that CJ smells good to me and doesn't cause skin issues.Nota bene Cactus Juice makes a number of different skin products that can be hard to distinguish online, so make sure you're getting "Sun & Skin Outdoor Protectant" rather than one of their other lotions or whatever. Also beware the monster shipping charge that some online retailers have. A year ago I looked around the web and ran across shipping charges over 8 bucks!

I purchased this recently because I needed a new bottle of sunblock for my kids (ages 1 & 6).I was going to buy the Neutrogena Wet Skin lotion but we go through a lot of sunscreen and I didn't think that the little 3oz bottle would last us very long.I also use Neutrogena Dry Touch Sunblock on my face, but wanted to find a sunblock I could use on my back/arms/etc... so it couldn't be greasy.This is great!It says its fragrance free; I found that it has a very pleasant scent.I won't lie, I kind of miss the smell of baby sunblock, but this smells very good.A little bit goes a long way so this bottle will last us probably half the summer.It's not very greasy so it's something that I'm willing to use too.

La Roche Posay Anthelios Xl SPF 50+ Fluide Extreme
As of 2010, this is one of the 2 products with chemicals approved by FDA that offers both UVA and UVB protection. The product was recommended by a friend in Europe who got her recommendation from her dermatologist. I have been using Shiseido sunscreen for years, and found this product superior in the following ways:1. Very powerful: spent a wk in CA coast, 10 hrs in the sun, my skin was intact, didn't show any irritation I usually got from intense sun exposure
2. Non greasy, absorbs really well and not drying at all
Some considerations:
1. It gives a greasy, whitish look especially after 2-3 applications, but Shiseido has it too. I don't mind it outdoor, but would prefer to clean it off before I go out for a nice dinner
2. As it is so effective to filter out the UV's, I didn't get much sun tan. So you may want to get a SPF 30 version if getting a tanned look is more important
3. As it absorbs so fast, I had to be careful to apply generously and made sure that no exposed area was skipped. On the 1st day when I was not so careful, parts of my shins were burned after a few hrs in the sun. But the mistake never happened again
4. I prefer to put on face cream before sunscreen. It seemed the sunscreen would roll onto the face cream on the skin and turned into many tiny white stuff that just fell off. The trick is to to wait for an hr or so until the face cream is thoroughly absorbed and dried before apply sunscreen.
Below is a chart that shows Anthelios XL product line's UVA and UVB protection. I bought the fluid face and fluid body because of their highest ppd level. The face fluid is more liquid than the body fluid. During hiking, I often carry only the body fluid to reduce the amount of stuff I carry. It works equally well on the face.

Update: 07/2012. We have been using this for 2 years on our all day bike ride or skiing every weekend. Never ever had our skin burnt. In the beginning, I prefer to use face cream before this product, then I found it was unnecessary, as it never dry out my skin. I also purchase the lip balm from this line. I found it to give better protection to my lips than the face fluid.

I love the way this product goes on, however, everytime I try to put my liquid foundation over it, it causes the product to "roll".My skin ends up with little flecks of product all over it.It takes a few minutes to remove it....Suggestion, wear it only without foundation, as when you are swimming or doing outside sports.

I'm pretty white and it takes me an entire Summer to even start to develop a tan because I burn so easily. This stuff works great and lives up to its water proof claim (as long as you put it on 10-15 min before you start to sweat or get wet to let it bind to your skin). I made it through a week in Hawaii with only a minor burn on my shoulders one day after snorkeling all day and only putting on sunscreen once in the morning (I think I had SPF 50 or higher). I've gotten many burns while wearing other brands of sunscreen. This is all I use now.

I have been using Melansol for about ten years and I love it. I live in Hawaii and am almost always outside and I want a natural sunscreen that doesn't rely on chemicals. I've tried more brands than I can count and most of them are either waxy, greasy, or have an unpleasant fragrance. I have been using Dermalogica Preclenase for a few years now and find it an important step in my facial care, especially when I wear makeup. Before Precleanse, I would wash my face and use toner after; there were always traces of makeup on the cotton. So I would wash and tone again. I tried other makeup removers but didn't like them. Enter Dermalogica Precleanse. First, a little goes a long way. I put about a dime sized amount in my palm, rub in my hands, and rub on my face eyes, lips all over. Next, I wet my hands, and rub all over the oil which completely emulsifies, taking with it all makeup and oil, even waterproof mascara and eyeliner. Finally, I splash with water, one pump of my facial cleanser, wash, rinse, and tone (completely clean cotton no matter how much or what type of makeup I've worn.It even works with stage makeup! While this product may seem a little pricey to some, Precleanse is well worth the cost. It works like a dream and a little goes a long way, so the bottle lasts most of the year. No matter what brand of makeup, cleanser/toner, or other facial product you're using, you need to give Precleanse a try if completely clean facial skin is what you want. I'm super happy to find that Amazon carries it buying my second bottle this year (and I use it everyday).
Well, after a few days of pre-cleanse (I've been using it for 6 months now), I must say I LOVE this product.The oil is so gentle, soothing, and effectiveand completely removes ALL traces of make-up without harsh exfoliation or scrubbing.Other cleansers still left residue on my face (which if you scrub with a washcloth you will see), left my already dry skin drier and tighter.

this stuff is everything and more.the best comparison is with maybelline's mousse foundations, because it's very much like those, except better.It's more pigmented than those ones, and it doesn't streak or look heavy.it goes on like a dream and the colors are gorgeous--it doesn't look too pink or orange. the coverage is adjustable--i like a full coverage foundation, and this does the trick without looking at all heavy.it's really something else!In addition to the coverage, it lasts throughout the day. That being said, I'm in Arizona and the air is extremely dry here, but the summer heat is enough to melt away all but the most durable makeup. This one withstands the test.

This isn't a revolutionary product, but I wasn't looking for one.It is simply a creamy eyeliner.It goes on easy.It's the type of mechanical pencil that you twist to raise the product up.It's very fine, so easy to apply in a thin line or build up for a heavier look.The color is great for green and hazel green eyes.I use the coordinating mascara and get lots of compliments.It does tend to melt off after awhile, but I live in a *very* humid climate.I have not purchased this from Amazon, so I can not speak to the other reviewers issue with only receiving one vs two.

Ok Ladies, (I say ladies cuz most men don't tan and/or use tingle) here's the deal.....I work at a tanning salon, and YES I do like tingle lotions. I'm certified as a skin/tanning consultant by the state of Wisconsin. Tingle lotions are the best simply for one main reason, don't get freaked out by the honesty..... what they do is bring the blood to the top of the skin and help circulate the melanin in your skin. That's why you get that "tingling" sensation and reddening effect. That's why tingle lotions always get you a darker, more longer lasting tan. Unfortunately alot of people cannot handle this kind of "pain". It goes away after a couple of hours, at best. If you can handle a lil discomfort for a bit, tingle will ALWAYS get you the best color for the longest time. Hopefully this will help you to know why you feel that, what I call, "pins and needles" feeling. Trust me, it's worth it!!
Yes, this stuff does burn like heck. Do not buy it if you are fair skinned or a casual tanner. The first time I used this lotion, I came out of the bed red and looking sunburned.The redness only last for about an hour and the 'itchiness' went away within 10 minutes. Within hours my skin was already 4-5 shades darker. The more I used it, the less red I would become and although it was still intense while in the tanning bed, the aftermath didn't last as long. I usually use this lotion for a month to get really dark and then switch to another because you build tolerance to it. (Note: I like to really feel the buuurrn, so other people may prefer to still use it after they get used to it.) Unlike some other tingle lotions, this one doesn't have a bronzer, so you get a really natural looking, deep, dark tan. No orange tint of any kind! I love this lotion and would recommend it to anyone. I feel like it's worth the 'aftermath' considering the quality of color that you get. Hope this helps!

This is a good lotion, but it is NOT for the casual indoor tanner.
I hadn't been tanning in about 3 weeks and when I tried this lotion out, it was fine at first but after I left the salon, I felt like I had fire ants biting my arms and legs. It took over an hour for the itching to stop.
The next time I tried this lotion, I had a good base tan and my skin simply tingled during and after the tanning session with no itching at all.
This lotion goes on warm and has a nice smell to it, and allows for a darker tan so if you want to try a tanning lotion with a little kick and you don't want to pay full price for it at the salon, this is the one for you.I just tried this lotion out today and I couldn't wait to write a review for it.First of all, this is the second tanning lotion I've ordered from Amazon.com.Both lotions were sold by Sunless Liquidators.The first lotion came several days before the estimated delivery date, which is wonderful.This item came almost a full week before the estimated delivery date, plus they added a sample of Hempz moisturizer (I recently bought a bottle of Hempz from my salon).I've been looking for a tingle lotion to replace my old favorite California Tan's Caramel Spice, which I believe has long been discontinued and is very hard to find. This is the first time I've used anything made by Designer Skin, and the line was recommended to me by a friend who uses other DS products. I'm naturally quite pale, but right now I already have a base tan, and I wouldn't recommend this lotion unless your base tan is already achieved.Goddess has a great tropical smell to it...if you are familiar with Bath and Body Works' Coconut Lime Verbena then you'll know exactly how this lotion smells!It smells great going on, and so far still smells great with no bad after tan odor.It goes on smoothly and absorbs quickly.I used it all over except for my face, which they also advise against on the back of the bottle.The tingle started almost immediately after the tanning bed turned on.It gradually became more intense throughout the tanning session.The feeling is best described as how one might feel if they rub a Habanero pepper all over their skin.Bronzers are not for me, and this doesn't contain any so for me, that's great.The darkening results are immediate, and it does leave your skin a bit reddened.I feel like I look like I've spent all day at the beach...bronzed, but not burned.It will definately help get you over the tanning plateau.The tingle is intense, even afterward, but I love tingle lotions so it doesn't bother me too much.If you have sensitive skin, then this lotion might not be for you.I do feel like my skin is a bit dry and could use some extra moisturizer, but it felt dry before I went tanning today so it probably needed some then too.I don't blame the Goddess lotion for this.I'm so glad I found a replacement for my tried and true Caramel Spice.I WILL be buying another bottle of this lotion when my current one is empty.Love, love, LOVE this lotion and would highly recommend it!!
